As wireless PDAs and Internet-enabled cellular phones continue to gain popularity worldwide, unscrupulous marketers are beginning a practice that could virtually put an end to the wireless Internet and email messaging-service industries. While it is a daily routine for many to receive unsolicited email on our desktops - it is unacceptable when the same annoying email arrives on a wireless device that we are paying 25¢ to 45¢ a minute to receive! If not stopped, wireless email will never succeed.

It is important to put pressure on the source of the wireless spammers, from the solicitors directly - to informing the ISPs that host their websites. Calls, letters, emails, faxes, and other correspondance clearly showing displeasure for such practices certainly help. Additional avenues include informing your congressional representatives to pass anti-spamming laws, as-well-as making local news agencies (newspapers, tv, and radio) aware of the unethical practice (see recent Arizona Republic/AP article - Cellular Spamming). | |||
